but you might sit there and ask yourself, “But what about me?” What about when I am sick myself?
That is a good point and very valid question. I remember battling with sickness myself and not really knowing what to do about it. Of course everybody has good advice for you when you are sick. I remember people telling me that I am sick because of sin in my life. Somebody else said that I just need to have faith and get healed. And these things were not wrong, but at the time, not of much help.
Because of my disc hernia I was unable to really sleep for long times anymore. Every time I moved I woke up, because my arm and my neck were hurting so bad. I was not even able to read anymore, because this position was the worst.
I followed the Biblical pattern to receive my healing and did not leave a stone unturned until I received it! So of course I started out just asking the Lord to touch me and I saw in the Spirit how he would touch me and heal my neck. This was awesome, because once I saw the Lord touch me in the Spirit, it was a great faith boost!
So yes, it is right. You need to have faith! Without faith nothing will happen. God is not moved by strong hope, no, He will start moving if He finds faith! So you need to have faith and build up your faith.
But in my case, I still did not get healed… so maybe I didn’t have faith after all. I don’t know. I would love to be able to tell you that I was healed right away that night when I prayed and saw the Lord touch me. But I was not.
So I did step number two. I am sure you have heard of that one before. But let me mention it here anyways. Because I believe it’s very important. Let me give you the Bible passage:
James 5, 14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, having anointed him with olive oil in the name of the Lord:
15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him.
16 Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that you may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
So what do you do when you’re sick? You go and call for the elders of the church to come pray for you. Your leaders in church should have faith to pray with you for your healing. I know James mentions also that they anoint you with oil. But there is no healing power in the oil itself.
We do not need sacraments, like they teach you in the Catholic Church. The oil only helps strengthen your faith, because it is something you can see. But you can also pray for healing without being anointed with oil. At the end of the day the power is in your faith, not in the oil.
Sometimes you have opened the door through sin and Satan was able to come in. This is why James also mentions the prayer of the elders for healing in context with confessing your sin. For when you confess your sins and close the door to Satan, you have taken all licenses from him and he must go.
We have discovered very often, that when we pray for healing that there is a demonic blockage. And once the demonic blockage is removed the person is getting healed very quickly. Our body is made to heal itself. But of course if Satan is blocking the healing, the body can not fulfill its natural function of healing.
It is important that you always deal with the sin issue and make sure that there is no more open door from the enemy before you pray for healing. Often our bodies gets sick because we sin and the result of sin is always death! So if you let the Lord address your sin and deal with it, it might be all that is needed for your Body to get better and you will receive healing automatically.
If you do these two things you will be receiving your healing according to the word of God. Just trust the Lord that He will heal you and then let the leaders of your church also pray with you.
Your leaders should not only have faith, but they will also be able to receive revelation and find out what is happening, so they can help you receive your healing.
Although in my case, things were getting better after my leaders prayed for me, but I was still not completely healed. Then I was at a church meeting where an Evangelist was visiting that flowed in the external anointing and miracles where happening. I was translating for the Evangelist and at the end of the meeting I asked if he could pray for me as well.
I felt like a warm flow when he laid hands on me and prayed and the very next day most of my pain was gone and when the doctor checked on me the next time, he could not believe what had happened.
He said, “This is impossible, but the hernia is almost completely recovered and healed! What happened?”
“Well, I was in church and somebody prayed for me.” I answered.
“Something surely worked!” He replied!
This Evangelist had faith for miracles and healings. I would say he had the gift of healings and that is why the healing happened that night. We experience this very often here as well.
So in conclusion, I want you to know that every time you are in need of healing, it’s always good to ask others to pray for you or even call the leaders of the church and ask them to pray with you. The prayer of faith will heal you and raise you up!
