You can do it! Really?
This was a tough week and I faced lots of attacks and was under constant fire from the camp of the enemy! I am sure you know weeks like that! Oh boy am I glad when things start changing again and the attack is less strong :-).
There is lot's of things we can do against an attack of the enemy. We speak forth the word, we worship and give praise, we go into spiritual warfare in the heavenlies... but what if it doesn't stop? Sometimes the enemy keeps the siege up and I know he has lost the battle a long time ago, but he still keeps on trying and the breakthrough is not here yet!
Let me tell you a little secret! When this happens you just keep on walking with the Lord and just rest in his finished work! That is right! He has done it all and there is no need to try and overcome it in your own strength. You have prayed and you have done all you could and now it is time to trust him and just rest in him!
Trying to impress God!
I have been reading the story of Cain and Abel this week and it has just struck me afresh. Cain worked hard as a farmer and had accomplisehd quite a lot! Although he knew what was pleasing to God and what to offer to him, he still wanted to impress God and instead of sacrificing a lamb, he offered him the works of his hands, a whole lot of fruit and stuff that he had worked so hard for! Abel... just tending the sheep, not working as hard as Cain just offered a lab and it was well pleasing for God.
Are we not doing the same sometimes? We think we can do or add something to the finished work of Jesus Christ! But there is nothing to add! Yeah, we work and we have to do what we have to do... but we are not more accepted by him because of it! Jesus has done it all for us! He died so that you and I can live! I can not work out my salvation. I can also not work out my ministry or the businesses I am involved in. Don't get me wrong. We are supposed to work and do the stuff we gotta do... but he has won the battle! It is his and sometimes we just need to rest in him and his finished work!
Rest in Him!
So this week I have learnt this afresh... we prayed, we called the Prophets to do their Job... we did all we could and thought we could do... and then it was just time to rest in His presence and wait until the evil passed away! So I want to encourage you... rest in Him and His finished work of Calvary! Do not try to impress him and do it in your own strength... once you have done your part, wait on Him, for he surely is faithful to his word and will do His part!
