Thailand is the ideal place to reach the countries that are still locked such as Laos, Vietnam or also Cambodia. In these countries Christians are still being persecuted and tolerated under very harsh restrictions, whereby it has become very difficult to reach out with the Gospel.

In May of this year Claude Widmer and Manuel Bestler together with Richard Suberi of the Himalayan International Ministry, India travelled to these countries and established first contacts with the leaders.

Here a brief insight into the events in these countries – a short travel report by Claude Widmer:

In the countries like Laos, Vietnam or also Cambodia Christians are still being persecuted and tolerated only under very strong restrictions. We were able to get to know a leader in Laos that reacts to the difficulties and persecutions as follows:

„I consider problems and persecution as a blessing. If I would not have this attitude, I would not be able to endure for very much longer in this country.“

Despite the persecution they are establishing in all 17 parts of the country churches and are experiencing how God meets the people and also always gives miracles! He criticized that the people from the west only want to know all about the persecution and how the people cope with it, but nobody seems to ask how they evangelize and have built up their work!

After our short visit in Laos we went onto Vietnam. The atmosphere there was oppressed and all we could do was cry and stand in intercession for this nation.

We were able to speak to a small group of students and also a Pastor and shared our vision with them. After about 6 – 7 hours of sharing, prophetic ministry and continuous teaching we won the trust of the main leaders and they were very happy to work together with us in the future. The control and fear of new ideas and the break-up beyond their “system” is tremendously strong there in the body of Christ.

Words of knowledge help in such specific situations, so that the people recognize, that we hear God and that He speaks through us. On numerous meetings God gave us such prophetic inputs and all of a sudden we got their attention and were able to place our visions. And so we pray that we will be able to have some students from South East Asia at this year’s live school.

At the end of our journey we visited the Kao Tao Resort that was brought to our attention by a miracle! It turned out to be the ideal place for our planned live school in August! We had such favor with the Management of the Resort that are also Swiss. The average cost per student amounts to CHF 330.00 – all inclusive – for the whole month!

It is a privilege for us that we may work in this region, where many unreached people live! The Bible School is only the starting signal and will provide us with the right contacts to lay a foundation and advance the long-term establishment of churches in this region.

We are expecting around 30 students from Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Myanmar, Malaysia, China, Indonesia, Himalaya and Pakistan. Most of the students or nearly all students cannot afford this school, because they come from impoverished conditions. (Further information on the live school available here – in English).
